LG MIRACAST SCREENSHARE TIPS:
I've spent the past 2 months trying to get this unreliable feature to work. Excuse the long post, I hope this will help those who don't want an hdmi wire inbetween their computer and tv to view streaming live tv or desktop from their computer.
For the record, mine is a 2015 win 10 quadcore hp desktop 'puter and 49uf6430 lg smart, 2015 model. And I'm not a teckie, just a determined user.
I've concluded this is the fault of both lg and microsoft. The most important thing is to establish a screenshare connection (handshake) first by trial and error using add device...to do this go to devices>connected devices>add devices. Keep in mind, no matter what windows asks about entering a password, THERE IS NO PASSWORD AND THE ONE THAT POPS UP ON YOUR LG WIFI DIRECT WILL NOT WORK IN THE PASSWORD BOX ON YOUR COMPUTER. Neither will 0000 or 7777.
In this page, after you establish the first original connection, you will see your tv icon under 'projectors' and under other devices 'generic PnP monitor'. Whatever you do, don't delete these or you'll need to start over. Scroll down to related settings, and click on 'devices and printers'..you should see your generic and lg icons there under devices. Again, don't ever delete either of these or you'll need to start over. Windows should automatically manage these anyhow.
Now for the hoops you'll need to jump through in order to connect from now on:
1- Be sure your tv is NOT connected to internet (important). Too bad mine doesn't remember my password. Also, set all other computers on your network to airplane mode until you see your computer screen on your tv.
2- SHUT DOWN computer.
3- RESTART TV, go to sreen share and let it sit there. Nevermind wifi direct, it's useless.
4- START your computer and wait till it's fully booted before next step.
5- Right click on your desktop, give it about 10 seconds to load, and then click 'connect to projector'.
6- When the 'lg webos' icon appears on the right side, IMMEDIATELY click on it, AND KEEP CLIKING ABOUT ONCE EVERY 1 OR 2 SECONDS UNTIL YOU SEE THE SPINNING BALLS ON YOUR TV. (Ignore the pop up at the bottom of your tv screen.)
7- Your monitor screen should flash once..if it doesn't you may need to reboot all over again from step 1.
8- Be sure the computer is COMPLETELY shut down before restarting the tv and have it on screenshare BEFORE starting the computer.
This all really sucks, but until a fix comes along this works for me 95% of the time. I should also note I'm NOT set up for SMART share...it might matter. I like the SCREEN share feature because I can stream KODI and foxnews go live from my desktop wirelessly.
I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE WITH THIS REDICULAS PROBLEM. Feel free to add to this, I enjoy learning new things.
